FX platform build brief
Open full FX brief01A complete currency exchange experienceFX means foreign exchange. Build a training platform where users explore rates and exchange demo balances with a clear quote and saved receipt.
Steps
- Work in a team of 2–3 using Next.js, Supabase, GitHub, and Vercel.
- Support BHD, USD, EUR, GBP, AED, and SAR with clearly labelled simulated rates and balances.
- Read the full brief for every required feature, pricing rule, design requirement, and acceptance check.
02Design requirementsFollow the design guidelines and make the platform responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
03Build the conversion flowChoose currencies and an amount, request a quote, review the total, confirm the exchange, and open the saved receipt.
Steps
- Show the offered rate, spread, fee, total debit, and received amount before confirmation.
- Expire quotes after 60 seconds and ask the user to review a new quote.
- Update both wallets and record the exchange together, with one execution per quote.
- Preserve the final amounts in history and receipts after refresh.
04Complete the supporting featuresMake the platform useful beyond a single conversion.
Checklist
- Search rates, view historical charts, and persist favourite pairs.
- Create target-rate alerts and in-app notifications evaluated on demo refresh.
- Search and filter transactions, export results, and download receipts.
- Protect customer data and administrator rate controls with real permissions.
05Prove the numbers and behaviourUse the exact exercise formulas and test cases from the full brief.
Checklist
- For the supplied USD/EUR fixture, USD 100.00 produces a USD 100.25 debit and EUR 89.55 credit.
- Expired quotes, insufficient balances, and paused currencies cannot execute.
- Repeated confirmation and concurrent requests cannot duplicate an exchange or overspend a wallet.
- The complete flow works on a phone and with a keyboard.
06Ship and presentSubmit a working deployment and explain how the design and implementation satisfy the brief.
Steps
- Review team Pull Requests and deploy the merged app through Vercel.
- Share the live URL, repository, setup instructions, and acceptance-check results.
- Give a five-minute demo including one successful exchange and one failure case.
